Can you talk about the decision to change you and your sister’s stage name from Aly & AJ to 78violet?
I think it was a great decision. I think it was a natural progression for AJ and [me] to change our name, because we always wanted to. We always wanted to be a band, and we were always way too young to think of anything somewhat cool. [The stage name] Aly & AJ worked for us for many reasons, because it’s our name and it felt natural. But at the same time, we always wanted to be a band and we always wanted to have a name that separated us as people. People will always call me Aly, and people will always call her AJ, but I think the music will speak for itself. It does sound like 78violet, kind of like a revamped, new version of Aly & AJ.
